Operation Potter Patriot

How we began

Fairport local, Earth Science Teacher, and Cubmaster of Pack 469, Mr. Nate Ruder met with local Fairport village officials and had a brainstorming session. They came up with the idea of having a campout devoted to helping support the fundraising efforts for the reconstruction of the Veteran's Memorial at Potter Park. Nate then met with local Eagle Scout from Troop 209, Joshua P. Fess and recruited him to organize this event to honor veterans. Nate and Josh are now currently to Co-Chairmen of Operation Potter Patriot. Both Nate and Josh have created an OPP Committee full of Boy & Cub Scouters, Community Members, Teachers, and members of the Fairport Foundation.

Philosophy

Do you know a veteran? Have you been affected or influenced by a veteran? Of course you have. We all have been affected either directly or indirectly. Veterans are all around us, but they are more than just regular citizens. They have sacraficed so much for us, so why not sacrafice a little of our time for them? Honoring our veterans shouldn't be something we are asked to do, but somethiing we should want to do. Remember we live in the home of the free because of the brave.

Our Work

We are local Scouts and Scouters and we are planning this event to honor those who deserve to be honored. This campout is to support the fundraising efforts for the rebuilding of the Veteran's Memorial at Potter Park in Fairport, NY. This campout is for all Troops in the Seneca Waterways Council to participate in. Cub Scout Packs and Community Members will attend for the day. We want to help the Fairport Foundation raise the funds they need to reconstruct this new memorial. We want to honor our veterans and you can help us by participating in this event and becoming a Potter Patriot.
